“Another missing person. Does anyone care?
Over the past week, there have been seven missing people reported missing.
Does that mean anything? There are always missing people in the big city. Sometimes, people don’t get reported at all. No one knows they’ve disappeared. Can you imagine how sad that is, no one knowing that you’re missing, that you’ve disappeared? And yet, here we are, only a few years after Toronto’s latest infamous serial killer was caught, and now we have more missing people.
Why do we think there is only one serial killer at a time?
Why do we think that teenagers who go missing just ran away to do drugs?
Why do we think that women who go missing just ran away from abusive partners? Or turned to prostitution and are “asking for it.” What kind of crazy world do we live in where loved ones go missing and no one gives a fuck?
This world. This is the world we live in.
Have you seen what happens around the world?
Everyone is so busy looking at the oligarchs shooting rockets to space or diving into the ocean that they are distracted from what really matters. Their own lives. Their own loved ones. Their own opportunities to have adventures or to just sit back and enjoy being alive.
There is someone screaming somewhere locked in a dungeon, being prepared to be slaughtered like an animal.
But we are all animals.
And the serial killers.
Don’t kid yourself that there would be less now that there are surveillance cameras everywhere and that everyone has a camera in their hand. People are less curious, less caring, less inclined to give a shit about any one but themselves.
The cult of the selfie came and went and now we’re into full rage narcissism.
If it wasn’t obvious before the pandemic, it sure as hell bubbled up to the surface afterward. The idea that an illness could be slowed down or even stopped by the simple act of washing hands and wearing a mask created a worse division in humanity, in consideration, in care for our fellow humans, than the invention of the nuclear bomb.
I blame the uneducated homeschooling their children. I blame the people who only see one side of the story and never look for the other. I still feel that the movie Idiocracy, which was supposed to be a comedy, is now a reality, and you can’t even laugh at it anymore because some people have indeed evolved to be That Stupid, that uncaring, that numb to other living beings around them.
When people are stupid and callous, the serial killers can roam free. They don’t even have to be clever. They are right there out in the open.
And what a time live in.
We can’t even tell what is real anymore. If you saw a snuff film twenty years ago, you knew it was a snuff film. If you watch one now, you have no idea. Was it real? Was it AI? CGI? Actors? Or was it real real?
And no one investigates. No one cares.
And so, as vloggers, we record all we see and do from our own corners of the world, and like newsmen of the old days, we don’t really get involved in other people’s real life shit. We are documenting human behaviour and sharing it for you all to see.
And yes, the like, shares and subscribes keep us creating more and more content for you. You click and we’ll provide. You ask and we’ll deliver. You want the content, we want the money.
And we will bring content no matter what the cost to you and your loved ones. For keeping the masses stupid and entertained means that the Illuminati, the oligarchs, the WhoEvers you love to have conspiracy theories about become stronger and gain more control, because you’re not paying attention. It’s more important for you to fight over whether someone bought bots for their channel than to see that your rights are being eroded right now.
Every minute, you lose more.
And more.
And more.
Did you know that in the United States, that women have only had the right to own their own credit card without a male co-signer for fifty years? Do we really want to go backwards to women not being in control of their own lives?
Does it really matter to YOU if a woman has an abortion? How does that affect YOUR LIFE? If no one told you, you’d never know.
If you think the population is getting too low, instead of creating a forced birth situation, why not create a world where you can buy or rent a home for a reasonable price, that business owners pay fair living wages, that items such as gas and prescription drugs don’t cost a fortune. There is plenty of room and ways to lower the prices on EVERYTHING IN THE WORLD but the rich people don’t want that. They don’t want the equalization of humans. That’s commie talk! But how? How is it that some humans deserve more than others?
Sure, there are lazy assholes in the world, but most people just want to live, not kill themselves to pay the rent to feed the family.
If the cost of living a good life wasn’t so insane, then more people would have children without taking away their rights, without forcing women to birth against their wills. But that means men don’t have power over them anymore.
And power is so very important to so many.
And so very NOT important to so many more.
But where do we go from here? How can we fix any of this?
Maybe you should stop staring at your phone all day. You know, not that long ago, there were no cell phones. People drove long distances without a GPS. Parents let their kids go to school and didn’t check up on them for seven hours.
But, of course, the world is dangerous out there. So we keep vlogging about it. The good and the bad.
Mostly the bad, of course, because we need the clicks. The likes. The shares, and most of all, the paid subscribers.
You do your job; I’ll do mine.
And maybe, one day, society will shift again, away from the serial vloggers and focus back on real life with real people without mocking them or shaming them or using them as our own personal curated freak shows.
But in the meantime, you do you, and I’ll keep reporting on it.
